This is Brandenburch

Brandenburch has specialised in processing vegetable raw materials into extrudates and flakes for more than 40 years. The end product – in the form of pellets, dried feed, or flakes – goes straight to the client and never to the consumer. That is where our buyers come in. Be that under our own brand name or anonymously, a Brandenburch end product is always safe. The client packages and supplies the plant-based animal feed to the market – entirely according to their own concept.

Heaps of experience

Brandenburch has a fully certified production and design process, which we uphold with our team of professionals. Who, drawing on heaps of experience, design, field-test, produce, package, and deliver the best plant-based animal feed. And we do that well. With a recognised GMP+ certificate Brandenburgh’s production process meets the highest industry standards.

The basis is just the beginning

Our basic range of extrudates, flakes, and lucerne forms the basis. And that’s just the beginning. At Brandenburch, anything is possible. We develop and produce customised animal feed. Specially designed for any plant-eating animal. Our motivation is to get the most out of plant-based feed, because we wish the animal a healthy and long life. There are virtually no residual flows, as everything goes back into the production process. A minimal waste product is collected by a bio-digester that converts it into green gas. Good for people, animals, and the environment.

From debate to evidence: nutrients over ingredients

Nutrition, and the nutritional knowledge connected to it, is the foundation of a good pet food product. While people often still think in terms of specific ingredients, the focus is increasingly shifting toward nutritional composition: the right nutrients in the right balance. Brandenburch embraces this approach.

Brandenburch has the specialist nutritional expertise required for this available within its own team. We use this knowledge for both our white-label and private-label products. We can also fully support our customers in this area, acting as a sparring partner and extension of the customer’s in-house nutritional expertise. As a member of NVG and FEDIAF, we follow these guidelines, and our nutritionist is qualified in these specific fields. In doing so, we work from one core principle: it is not the raw materials that are leading, but the correct nutritional values of the final product. We always take our customers’ key requirements into account, such as market positioning and target pricing.

Samen met onze klanten ontwikkelen we de beste voeding voor dieren

But we can’t do it alone, so we do it together. With our animal feed customers, with you. Our team is always ready to produce the very best feed for herbivorous animals. In large or small batches. From mice to elephants, but also monkeys, parrots, rodents, and ornamental fish. No animal is too unusual for us, no ingredient unfamiliar. Although, of course, we don’t know everything. If there is a raw material we don’t know well enough, we are more than happy to dive into it together with you. We go the extra mile to achieve the best end product.

From 2,500 kg to 80,000 kg

Brandenburch offers the production capacity you need: from 2,500 kg to 80,000 kg. Our plant-based animal feed is packed in bags or big bags. Bulk collection (loose load) is also possible in some cases. Shelf life is a key factor, which is why packaging can be filled with carbon dioxide and nitrogen. This process helps keep the feed fresh for longer without using preservatives. In this way, we contribute to food safety and reduced food waste. Brandenburch can also produce small batches, making it easier to launch a new product to market. Scaling up can always come later. Smaller quantities are also useful if you want to blend your product with other components yourself.

Looks matter too

Shape, color, and consistency are important to us. On the one hand for the consumer’s eye, and on the other because of the animal’s eating behavior. Birds and monkeys, for example, often look for ripe fruits; we try to replicate that in the pellet as much as possible. Whenever possible, Brandenburch works with natural colorants.

Together we create the best pellet

We are happy to stay flexible, so you can go to market with the end product you want. We do practical research: what works, and above all what does not. Our commitment is strong, but we are also honest. We can’t — and in fact don’t want to — work without our clients. Without your expertise about the animal and its specific nutritional needs, we cannot make the best feed. That is how we strengthen each other. Everything starts together at the table at Brandenburch.

Brandenburch in a nutshell

We get the most out of it

At Brandenburch, we believe it is important that animals live as long and healthy a life as possible. That is why we make the best possible use of plant-based raw materials, so that more animals can benefit from them. We literally get everything out of what is in them.

Hart voor dieren

Animals are often our best friends, so it is very important that they stay vital. Older animals need slightly less energy and more fiber, while younger animals need easily digestible, energy-rich nutrition. That is why we carefully assess feed composition together.

A little more about extrusion

Brandenburch extrudes plant-based raw materials into high-quality animal nutrition. The extrusion process changes the structure of the raw material, allowing the animal’s digestive enzymes to penetrate the cells more effectively. This helps the animal digest the feed better. We produce complete nutrition with everything the animal needs, or individual components that are processed into a muesli mix.

Micronizing flakes (grains and vegetables)

In addition to three extrusion lines, Brandenburch can also micronize. This makes raw materials easier to digest. Because the cell structure is opened up in this process, the animal can absorb more nutrients from the feed. Nutritional value is therefore optimized, which supports both the animal’s productivity and health.

Lucerne stems, blocks, and meal

A third product supplied by Brandenburch is lucerne, also known as alfalfa. This plant is often processed in animal feed after artificial drying due to its rich vitamin and mineral content. Artificially dried lucerne contains a lot of leaf particles. We sieve those out so that only the stems remain. Horses, goats, and rodents love them. The dried stems are supplied as they are, or used as a base for pressed pellets. Nothing is lost during the lucerne process. The sieved-out particles, packed with nutrients, are milled into a meal.

GMP+ certification

Quality and safety are important to us. That is why Brandenburch develops and produces all products through a GMP+ certified process. This enables us to guarantee quality, reliability, and traceability throughout the chain. GMP+ requires continuous improvement of our safety and quality management systems, so we are always moving to optimize our processes.

Certifications and partnerships

We work according to the highest standards

At Brandenburch, producing plant-based animal nutrition goes beyond just the product. Together with our partners, we build brands. That is why we work to the highest standards and are affiliated with leading certifications such as V-Label and GMP+.
At the same time, we actively seek collaboration with national and international knowledge partners and industry organizations such as NVG, FEDIAF membership, Pet Panel, Feed Design Lab, and Propaws.
In this way, we not only safeguard quality and transparency, but also strengthen the future of plant-based animal nutrition together with our industry peers.

About extrusion

From plant-based raw material to high-quality animal feed

The extrusion process changes the structure of the raw material so that the animal’s digestive enzymes can penetrate the cells more easily. This allows the animal to digest the food better. We make complete feeds that contain everything the animal needs, or alternatively, individual components that are incorporated into another product or muesli.
