In 2020, Kevin van Hal traded his chef’s jacket for a role as a process operator at Brandenburch. Without any experience in animal feed or technical work, he stepped into a completely new world. At Brandenburch, they do not look at your “piece of paper” (formal qualifications), but at your qualities and motivation to work and develop. That is the primary foundation; the rest follows.
Kevin says: “When I started at Brandenburch, I had absolutely no idea what was involved in the development and production of pet food. I just went with the flow and kept an open mind toward new things. This allowed me to grow into the person I am today. As a process operator and all-round shift supervisor, I’m responsible for starting up the machines, adjusting the production process and solving technical issues.”
I get the freedom to do what is needed, and I really like that in my work because it creates trust. At the same time, it also brings responsibility, which can make it challenging. In our team, everyone is equal, from operator to manager. Your qualities are valued, and we truly do the work together. My workdays are highly varied: from calm periods when everything runs smoothly, to moments when my team and I face technical challenges. That very variety ensures it never gets boring. My schedule consists of shift work, which on the one hand provides structure and on the other hand leaves room for my private life.
Working at Brandenburch is a continuous learning process, with new challenges every day. If you are willing to learn, a lot is possible here. For me, the ideal colleague is someone who is eager to learn and motivated to grow personally and improve the company together. I see my future at Brandenburch positively. We make high-quality products, and the market is ready for more plant-based nutrition. Even though the appearance of our factory may suggest otherwise, behind this facade you will find an innovative and modern company.
Besides working hard, we also enjoy the fun activities. Such as the annual barbecue, various treats throughout the year, parties, and of course the Christmas get-together to close the year together. That way, you also get to know your colleagues in a different way.
